05 June 2003 05:58 INBRIEF The perspective of moving the US's European military bases eastwards to countries such as Poland, Bulgaria,
Romania and possibly Baltic countries, evokes nervous reactions from the Moscow media and Byelorussia's President
Aleksander Lukaszenko. However Russia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reacted calmly, with Foreign Minister, Igor
Iwanow, stating that he had been assured that NATO countries would obey its commitments towards Russia.
Candidacies to the executive boards of the public radio and television are already known. Among 40 board members a
large number of them are the hitherto members. Five out of nine National Broadcasting Council (KRRiTV) members are
connected with the Democratic Left Alliance (SLD).
A lack of transparency in financial decisions and frequent violation of the public procurement act are the charges of
the Supreme Board of Inspection (NIK) against the Ministry of Health. According to NIK, the ministry carried out last
year's budget improperly, spending ZL220m unlawfully. At the time the ministry was headed by Mariusz Lapinski.
