17 February 2003 00:00 PRESIDENT OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION VLADIMIR PUTIN SPEAKS BY TELEPHONE TO ROMANO PRODI, CHAIRMAN OF THE COMMISSION OF THE EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES
A telephone conversation took place on February 15 between President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and Romano Prodi, Chairman of the Commission of the European Communities.
In the light of the outcome of the last meeting of the United Nations Security Council on the question of Iraq Putin and Prodi spoke for the continuation of the work of the international inspectors in Iraq and for the search of ways out of the crisis by nonmilitary methods.
Topical aspects of Russian relations with the EU were also discussed, including in the context of an upcoming European Union summit to be held on February 17, 2003.
Putin and Prodi agreed to continue contacts.
