PRESIDENT OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION VLADIMIR PUTIN SPEAKS TO US PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH BY TELEPHONE
Russian President Vladimir Putin called US President George W. Bush and expressed his sincere condolences to the American people and to the kith and kin of the astronauts over the tragic deaths of the crew of the space shuttle Columbia. Putin noted that Russia and the United States are closely cooperating in space exploration and therefore our country is all the more sensitive to the tragedy that has occurred.
President Bush expressed his deep appreciation for the words of sympathy and support to the American people.
