Cooperation between Russia and Italy is developing very energetically, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin noted at a meeting with Franco Frattini, Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs. The head of the Russian state gave as an example the Blue Stream pipeline project being carried out with technical and financial assistance from Italy.
Putin is awaiting the upcoming visit to Moscow of Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi so as to jointly inaugurate the Blue Stream pipeline, laid across the bed of the Black Sea to Turkey. The President expressed his hope for other similar joint projects to be accomplished in Europe.
"We regard Silvio Berlusconi as a great friend of our country and hope for the high results of cooperation that will follow his upcoming visit," stressed the Head of State. As major areas of bilateral cooperation Putin described the political, economic and humanitarian spheres.
