YUKOS TO SPONSOR FIBA - EUROPE CONFERENCE NORTH
VILNIUS, Jan 15, BNS - Russian oil company Yukos, owner of Mazeikiu Nafta (Mazeikiai Oil) will sponsor FIBA - Europe
Conference North Basketball League.
An agreement on support was signed in Vilnius on Wednesday; Yukos public relations coordinator Arturas Jonkus
reported. The document was signed by Yukos vice-president Michail Brudno and FIBA - Europe Conference North director
general Sarunas Marciulionis.
"Any league would be proud of having a partner like Yukos; cooperation with Yukos enables us to meet the highest
standards," Marciulionis said.
"We realize the importance of basketball in Lithuania and other countries of the region," Brudno said. Both
Brudno and Marciulionis emphasized that cooperation will be mutually beneficial.
On Thursday Brudno will meet Lithuanian President Valdas Adamkus, Prime Minister Algirdas Brazauskas and introduce
the new Mazeikiu Nafta (Mazeikiai Oil) director general Paul Nelson English to the Lithuanian leaders; they will discuss
other topical issues related to the Lithuanian oil company.
