SKYTYVKAR TIMBERING COMPLEX MAY GET NAME-CHANGE
The shareholders of Syktyvkar Timbering Complex (Republic of Komi) will meet for an extraordinary meeting on January 20 to address changing the company name to 'Neusiedler Syktyvkar'. The enterprise's press service has told Interfax that the name- change decision falls under the development strategy of the Neusiedler group, the complex's main shareholder. Neusiedler's general policy is aimed at setting unified standards, principles and tasks for all its enterprises. One of the main reasons for the name-change is that the Neusiedler group's image will extend to the Syktyvkar Timbering Complex, the press service noted. Syktyvkar turned out 679,500 tonnes of final product last year, 8% more than the year before, the company press service has told Interfax. In cash terms, Syktyvkar's commodity product output was worth 9.438 billion rubles last year, a 14% increase on 2001. The timbering enterprise's plans for this year include the production of 726,000 tonnes of pulp and paper goods. It is looking to increase output and sales of paper for the office and cardboard while cutting offset paper sales. Newspaper production and sale will remain the same as last year. Neusiedler owns 89.9% of the enterprise's stock, itself being part of the corporation Anglo-American's timber industry subdivision Mondi.
