05 July 2001 00:00 RUSSIAN FEDERATION SECURITY COUNCIL DEPUTY SECRETARY VLADIMIR POTAPOV'S WORKING TRIP TO KALININGRAD REGION 04-07-2001
On July 4 Vladimir Potapov, Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, embarked on a working trip to the Kaliningrad Region. For several days he and the group of Security Council staff members he leads will acquaint themselves with the situation there. It is expected that they will particularly focus on problems relating to the implementation of the Federal Target Program for the Development of the Special Economic Zone in the Kaliningrad Region for the 1998-2005 Years.
The Russian Federation Security Council Deputy Secretary will inspect the progress in the realization of a number of measures of a legal, economic, foreign policy, organizational and information character taken in the region, taking into account the special geostrategic importance of the Kaliningrad Region for Russia.
The chief objective of the trip is preparations for an upcoming meeting of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, which will consider development prospects of the Kaliningrad Region.
