On October 31, Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Vladimir Rushailo had a telephone conversation with Assistant to the US President for National Security Affairs Condoleezza Rice.
A wide range of questions of Russian-American cooperation in various fields, above all in the area of security and strategic stability was discussed. The interlocutors exchanged views on the course of the antiterrorist operation and prospects for a future dispensation in Afghanistan. The Secretary of the Russian Security Council drew attention to the identity of the Russian and American points of view on the necessity to look in all the sections of Afghan society for realistically thinking forces which would ensure a confident march of the country along the road of progress.
During the conversation, held in the context of the preparations for an upcoming Russian-American summit meeting, Vladimir Rushailo noted the willingness of Russia to continue the constructive Russian-American cooperation in the cause of fighting international terrorism. It is necessary to do everything for the building-up of the potential of the international antiterrorist front, he said.
