Deal over Baykalfinansgrup rubber-stamped by Russian watchdog

The Russian Federation Federal Antimonopoly Service has approved the acquisition by the Rosneft state oil company of Baykalfinansgrup, which won the auction for the sale of the controlling package of shares in the Yuganskneftegaz company, Interfax has learnt from the Federal Antimonopoly Service.
"We approved Rosneft's acquisition of the company that had previously bought Yuganskneftegaz at the end of this week," the spokesman for the antimonopoly service said.
At the same time, the Federal Antimonopoly Service is still not revealing who was behind Baykalfinansgrup before its acquisition by Rosneft.
The antimonopoly service explained that the rapid issue of a positive decision came about because Baykalfinansgrup had been vetted before the Yuganskneftegaz auction, and Rosneft in the context of a previously submitted application for a merger with Gazprom.
