07 December 2004 13:33 Winners announced in two Russian regional elections Votes are being counted following gubernatorial elections in six Russian regions today. In two of them, the names of the winners have already been announced. The governor of Pskov Region will be businessman Mikhail Kuznetsov, who beat the incumbent governor, Yevgeniy Mikhaylov, by 7 per cent of the vote. In Astrakhan Region the winner was Aleksandr Zhilkin, who has until now been acting governor of the region. In Kamchatka, Ulyanovsk and Volgograd Regions there will be a second round of voting. In Bryansk Region, State Duma deputy and chairman of the local branch of the One Russia party, Nikolay Denin, is leading with half of the ballot papers counted. Incidentally, representatives of One Russia are also in the lead in elections to the regional assembly.
