Russia prepared to take part in Iraq`s reconstruction - official

Russia must and will take part in the reconstruction of Iraq, Russian Foreign Ministry ambassador at large Sergey Kirpichenko, who represents Russia at the international donors' conference on Iraq reconstruction in Tokyo, told RIA. Delegates of 53 countries and international organizations are taking part in the conference.
"If national accord is reached in Iraq, many countries will show their interest in taking part in the country's reconstruction. Iraq's traditional partners, such as France and Russia, will be among them," Kirpichenko said.
In Russia's estimate, various [Russian] companies can invest 5-6bn dollars in Iraq, if security is restored there.
"If national interests of the Iraqi people are understood correctly, Russia will certainly get access to the Iraqi market. The most important sectors of the Iraqi economy, such as power engineering, water facilities and others, have been set up with Russia's aid. It would be precipitate of Iraq to reject the possibilities our country possesses in this area," Kirpichenko said.
