Russia`s wage arrears mount in May
Moscow, 21 June: Total wage arrears in Russia rose 1.8 per cent in May to R24.434bn [842m dollars] as of 1 June, the Federal State Statistics Service said on Monday [21 June]. Wage arrears resulting from lack of financing from the federal, regional, and local budgets accounted for 11 per cent of the figure. Arrears resulting from lack of financing from the federal budget increased 12.3 per cent in May to R2.704bn as of 1 June, while arrears caused by lack of companies' own funds increased 0.6 per cent to R21.730bn. The federal budget debt in wages rose 6 per cent in May to R304m as of 1 June. [Passage omitted]
