Russia`s gas monopoly to upgrade pipeline network
Moscow, 21 June: Russia's gas monopoly Gazprom will be able to save up to 9-10 bn cubic metres of natural gas annually after upgrading Russia's pipeline system, company board member Bogdan Budzulyak told a news conference on Monday [21 June]. In 2003, Gazprom managed to save about 2.4bn cubic metres of gas in an energy-conservation programme, he noted. Gazprom plans to invest about R237bn in upgrading the pipeline system over the next 5 years, he noted. This year, the company plans to invest about 1bn dollars upgrading the system, he added. [The current exchange rate is R29.0257 to the dollar]
