21 June 2004 17:56 Yukos case undermines confidence in Russian investment market, says official [Presenter] Commenting on today's statement by [Russian Finance Minister Aleksey] Kudrin [on the Yukos oil
giant], the first vice-president of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, Igor Yurgens, has said it is
not the best way to convince anyone that we have a good investment climate.
[Yurgens] Of course, after they first launched an attack [on Yukos], now it is very difficult to say that it is not
bankrupt. They have, so to speak, prepared the real bankruptcy by having taken a very tough position. Now there is
practically no other way out but to sell the assets. Moreover, they will probably have to sell them to whom the state
will tell them to sell.
