21 June 2004 13:24 Russia: Urals defence plants to produce medical equipment as well as arms Moscow, 21 June: Defence industry enterprises of Sverdlovsk Region will begin to produce highly advanced medical
equipment as from this year, Sverdlovsk Region governor Eduard Rossel said at a news conference at the ITAR-TASS offices
today. "The production of medical equipment will be carried out in parallel with work on new types of arms,"
Rossel said. "The quality will be as good as similar models made in other parts of the world," he added. In
the first year, "we will produce medical equipment worth over one billion dollars," Rossel stressed.
"This will make it possible to support the intellectual potential of defence industry specialists," Rossel
said.
