More Russians think there is alternative to Zyuganov
MOSCOW. June 18 (Interfax) - The percentage of Russians who think the Communist Party has politicians who could replace the party's current leader, Gennady Zyuganov, has almost doubled over the past year and a half. In June 2004, 42% said the Communist Party has such politicians and 27% said it does not, against 23% and 16%, respectively, in December 2002, a poll conducted by the Public Opinion Foundation shows. The poll, which surveyed 1,500 Russians, was conducted in December 2002 and on June 12, 2004. Almost one-quarter of the respondents (24%) said they approve of Zyuganov, 32% said they do not, and 39% said they are indifferent toward him, the poll shows. [RU EEU EUROPE ASIA EMRG POL] av aw
