18 June 2004 22:46 Russia signs contracts for $1.6 bln at Harbin fair KHABAROVSK. June 18 (Interfax) - Russian and Chinese businesses signed 30 contracts worth $1.61 billion during Russia
Day at the 15th international trade fair in Harbin.
The press service of the presidential envoy to the Far Eastern federal district, Konstantin Pulikovsky, told Interfax
that 11 contracts were signed in trade and 19 in scientific and economic cooperation between major companies in the
district and Heilongjiang province.
Addressing signatories in Harbin, Pulikovsky said that Russian and Chinese entrepreneurs have plenty of work ahead as
30 joint projects are being planned.
Head of the provincial government of Heilongjiang Zhang Zuoji announced that trade between his province and Russia
has jumped 35% this year.
The press service also said that Russia is looking forward to Chinese investments in the development of hydrocarbon
reserves and other minerals. However, today most countries are offering investments only in oil and gas transportation,
and Russia is not content with this, Pulikovsky said in an interview with a TV company from Hong Kong. [RU EUROPE ASIA
