19 June 2004 14:06 Russian Missile Troops ready to receive all graduate officers - commander [Presenter] Graduation ceremonies have been held in Russian Strategic Missile Troops [RVSN] colleges and academies.
About 2,000 officers will graduate from RVSN training establishments this year.
This is the Petr Velikiy [Peter the Great] Military Academy's 173rd graduation ceremony. The military say that
it will make it possible to fill up to 80 per cent of junior officer positions in the troops.
Strategic Missile Troops Commander Col-Gen Nikolay Solovtsov said that new graduates were in demand, were being
expected in military units and that there was no danger for them to lose their jobs.
[1st unidentified young graduate] I feel joy, pure joy. This is my first graduation. I simply cannot find words to
express it. It's a truly festive occasion.
[2nd unidentified serviceman] I have been appointed to the Orenburg Missile Army, to the position of deputy head of
the operational department.
[Nikolay Solovtsov, Strategic Missile Troops commander] Today's graduates are in demand in the Strategic Missile
Troops. They are being expected and each of them has been appointed to a specific position in the troops. Therefore
there is no danger that RVSN officers will lose their jobs either today or tomorrow or in the near future. There is no
cause for worry.
