18 June 2004 01:46 Skoda plans to sell 7,000 cars in Russia in 2004, 15,000 in 2005 MOSCOW, June 18 (CTK) - Car maker Skoda Auto plans to significantly raise the number of cars it sells in Russia, to
7,000 units this year, and between 10,000 and 15,000 next year, Stefan Chudoba, head of Skoda Auto's Russian
division said here today.
Chudoba said the company plans to rebuild the network of dealers and improve services provided to Russian
clients.
"We want to raise sales and return to positions Skoda held in the past, that is the second or third place among
importers," said Chudoba.
In the longer-term, the company is considering production in Russia, Chudoba said.
Until 2001, Skoda was quite active in Russia and thought about opening a plant in Izhevsk, but the idea never
materialised. In the last two years, its sales in Russia fell sharply.
