Azeri parties protest against Russian official`s visit
Baku, 18 June: The Azarbaycan Milli Istiqlal Party and the United People's Front Party have protested against the arrival in Baku of the president of the Russian Chamber of Trade and Industry, Yevgeniy Primakov. A press release by the Milli Istiqlal Party said that "Primakov is one of the organizers of the crimes committed by the Soviet army in Azerbaijan in 1990 [Soviet invasion of Baku] and his visit to Baku is an insult to the country's people". A statement by the United People's Front Party, which is headed by Qudrat Hasanquliyev, said that "Primakov was directly involved in the crimes committed in Baku in January 1990 and his visit causes a surprise". "Forgetting the crimes against the Azerbaijani people is immoral and we demand his immediate expulsion from Baku," the statement said.
