Gazprom plans to invest over $1Bln in Uzbek economy - Putin
TASHKENT. June 16 (Interfax) - Russia's Gazprom, following in the footsteps of Lukoil, is planning to invest over $1 billion in the economy of Uzbekistan, President Vladimir Putin announced on Wednesday after talks with his Uzbek counterpart in Tashkent. Uzbek President Islam Karimov said that together with the pending contract with Gazprom, Russian investments in the Uzbek oil and gas sector will soar to $2.5 billion.
