EU, Russia may begin talks on visa regime soon
ST. PETERSBURG. June 16 (Interfax) - The European Commission will soon get a mandate to conduct negotiations on the easing of visa regulations between the European Union and Russia. Richard Wright, the head of the delegation of the European Commission in Russia, said at a meeting devoted to Russia-EU economic relations held on the sidelines of an international economic forum in St. Petersburg that the visa regime will not be fully abolished and will function in accordance with the current legislation and agreements Russia has signed with Germany, France, and Italy.
