the government should privatize the TransTeleCom Company (a leading Russian backbone telecommunications operator). At a
press conference in St. Petersburg yesterday, Minister Leonid Peyman said: "I deem it inappropriate that the
government owns 100 percent of shares in this company.' The company's vice-president, Inna Gorislavtseva, had
earlier suggested that the firm be partially sold to Russian Railways. She reckoned that TransTeleCom has a market
valuation of €83m.
