Chechnya draws up plan to ensure "total security" during elections
web site Groznyy, 17 June: Chechnya's law-enforcement agencies have promised to take comprehensive security measures in the republic before and during the early presidential election, Chechen Deputy Interior Minister Sultan Satuyev told Interfax on Thursday [17 June]. "A comprehensive plan of actions has been developed to ensure total security for the election's organizers, electoral commission members and voters," Satuyev said. "These measures will not differ greatly from those taken in any other region of the country prior to and during elections," he said. "Security units will be deployed at all the territorial and district electoral commissions in advance," Satuyev said, adding that he sees no reasons "for any security concerns in the run-up to the presidential election in Chechnya". The Chechen presidential election have been scheduled for 29 August.
