JSC Dalsvyaz Selects Paradyne for First Universal Broadband Service Deployment in Russia
Paradyne, Largo Paul Harris, 727-530-2529 pharris@paradyne.com Mega-Regional Carrier Launches IP-Based Broadband Rollout With 15,000 Line Deployment of ADSL and ReachDSL(TM) Paradyne (Nasdaq:PDYN), today announced that Russian mega-regional telecommunications carrier JSC Dalsvyaz has selected Paradyne's DSL access equipment for deployment of IP-based broadband services to business and residential subscribers. JSC Dalsvyaz is a subsidiary of Svyaznivest - one of the world's largest telecommunications companies - and is one of seven incumbent carriers in Russia, providing service throughout Russia's Far East. Dalsvyaz has begun deployment of 15,000 lines of DSL using Paradyne's Broadband Access Concentrators and DSL modems. A key challenge faced by Dalsvyaz was the number of diverse networks in its system, including both ATM and IP infrastructures, and a wide range of copper plant wireline conditions. Paradyne's extensive portfolio of DSL access equipment addresses poor line conditions, long loops and multiple networking protocols. The Paradyne product portfolio features: -- The combination of Paradyne's patented ReachDSL and its standards-based ADSL, together providing DSL coverage over any line. -- Paradyne's high-density and medium-density Broadband Access Concentrators and its 1U mini-DSLAMs, providing a single platform for deployments in any type of central office or remote site. -- Uplinks supporting both IP as well as ATM, enabling Dalsvyaz to deploy a single broadband access solution regardless of backbone network protocol. -- Paradyne's integrated ADSL and ReachDSL combination in a single customer premises equipment (CPE), providing an efficient and economical solution for end-user installations. "After careful consideration of many products, Paradyne stood above the crowd because of their excellence in technology and world-class product quality," said Oleg Mamontov, deputy general director and CTO at Dalsvyaz. "We are proud to be a part of this new stage in the development of Russia's telecom industry," said Sean Belanger, president and CEO of Paradyne. "Dalsvyaz is addressing their entire market potential by combining Paradyne's ADSL and ReachDSL. This is a major footprint win for Paradyne."
