Russia urges Ukraine to curb "nationalist provocation"
Moscow, 17 June: The Russian Foreign Ministry has described an attack against the Russian cultural centre in Lviv as a "nationalist provocation". The Russian cultural centre in Lviv was attacked on 16 June. "This is not the first time that the Russian cultural centre in Lviv comes under attack. The Russian Foreign Ministry has repeatedly urged the Ukrainian side to take measures to prevent this provocation and to punish the perpetrators. We firmly insist that these measures be taken following this particular incident," the Foreign Ministry commented when asked about the attack. "We hope that not only the authorities but also Ukraine's intelligentsia, primarily, prominent figures of culture and the arts will make their weighty input. It is time to rebuff these nationalist actions," the comment says. "Meanwhile, we would like to stress that Russia will continue to maintain its course aimed at preserving and developing Ukrainian culture and strengthening humanitarian relations between the two fraternal nations."
