17 June 2004 11:15 Russian news agency presents military news website at French arms show Paris, 16 June: ARMS-TASS agency, which is part of Russia's ITAR-TASS news agency, has presented its recently
opened Internet portal of military-technical information at the Eurosatory-2004 arms show. The presentation of the new
site aroused great interest among specialists and journalists covering Eurosatory-2004, ARMS-TASS reports.
The Russian and English-language reports on the site, whose address is www.arms-tass.su, are geared, first and
foremost, to problems of world defence industry and Russia's military-technical cooperation with foreign states,
the development of the world arms market, aerospace hardware, and advanced and dual technology. As ITAR-TASS approaches
its 100th anniversary, Russia has come up with a major source of military-technical information capable of providing the
scope and content that the most demanding user requires.
The new Internet portal comprises databases with a 15-year search depth, that are updated on a daily basis, a running
newsfile entitled "Aviation, Space, Armaments" and publications on military-technical topics, as well as an
entire range of daily, monthly and quarterly journals, reference materials, dictionaries and a photo archive.
The ARMS-TASS site carries the already popular illustrated Internet journal "News of Airshows and Arms
Exhibitions", access to which is unrestricted. In real time this provides news of leading international aerospace
shows and exhibitions of arms and military hardware, including the current Eurosatory-2004 show. Not only Russian and
foreign military experts, but also representatives of a number of prestigious international arms shows, which have
granted ARMS-TASS the status of official information partner for up-to-the-minute coverage of their military-technical
forums, have been drawn to this electronic publication at Eurosatory-2004.
