15 June 2004 11:11 Russian power plant renationalization ruling challenged MOSCOW and KRASNOYARSK, Russia. June 15 (Interfax) - The Federal Agency for the Management of State Property on
Friday appealed a court ruling to deprivatize a hydro power plant, a source said.
The privatization of the Sayano-Shushenskaya plant was annulled by the Eastern Siberian District Court.
It has been impossible to obtain any comments from the Agency, which, the source told Interfax, had appealed to the
Supreme Arbitration Court.
Nor has Interfax been able to obtain confirmation from the Supreme Arbitration Court as the court said it had not
started registering Friday appeals until Tuesday.
Another appeal against the Eastern Siberian District Court Ruling came to the Supreme Arbitration Court from Russian
national electricity company UES, which owns an 80% stake in the plant.
The plant's renationalization had been proposed by the governor of the Khakasia region, Alexei Lebed, who
questioned the legality of the facility's privatization.
Lebed discussed the matter last week with Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Zhukov, Economic Development and Trade
Minister German Gref, and UES chief executive Anatoly Chubais, among others.
After the discussion, Khakasia said it would be willing to stop seeking to have the plant renationalized if UES drops
its plan to have the plant reregistered in the Krasnoyarsk territory. [RU EUROPE EEU EMRG ELG MRG] as aw
