Russian interior minister warns of "super-terrorism"
web site Chisinau, 15 June: Russian Interior Minister Rashid Nurgaliyev called attention to the fact that conventional terrorism, with its current immense financial, ideological and human resources, has been transforming into a sort of super-terrorism, which could make use of nuclear, chemical and biological weapons to affect the ecosphere and the information space. Nurgaliyev told a meeting of the CIS Interior Ministers Council in Chisinau on Tuesday [15 June] that, because of their geopolitical situation, CIS member nations bear the brunt of the fight on terrorism, which has been on the rise in other CIS member nations as well as in Russia. Nurgaliyev warned that terrorist attacks might be carried out on a much larger scale and their death toll could be immeasurably higher than what the world has witnessed to date.
