Tajik official condemns "exceptionally provocative" Russian statement
The head of the Tajik Foreign Ministry's information department, Igor Sattorov, has expressed dissatisfaction with the circulation of the so-called "Tough entry permit procedures into Russia for Tajik nationals" by the [Russian] Novyy Region news agency in Yekaterenburg. Igor Sattorov said: The statement is exceptionally provocative and revisionist given the intention of the EAEC [the Eurasian Economic Community of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan - the former Customs Union] member states to sign a protocol on introducing changes to the agreement between the governments of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan on visa free visits of citizens dated 30 November 2000. The main point of these changes is that the entry and departure of these countries' citizens will be carried out by the presentation of foreign passports - in order to regulate these [entry and departure] procedures as of 1 July 2005. The head of the Tajik Foreign Ministry expressed regret about [a word indistinct] and irresponsible statement by the Novyy Region news agency on this issue.
