15 June 2004 18:14 RUSSIA: MUSLIM COOPERATIVE FUND LAUNCHED IN KARELIYA According to IINA, Muslims in the Russian republic of Kareliya have launched a cooperative fund to extend financial
assistance to the poor and needy people in the region. It has been agreed that every Muslim family in the region would
contribute one and a half US dollars per month to the fund. The Islamic societies of Kareliya are also striving hard to
combat drug menace and they were able to score good results in this respect.
