15 June 2004 16:40 Russian finance minister outlines 2005 draft budget to president [Presenter] The Russian Finance Ministry has prepared a draft budget for 2005. The draft is expected to be put
forward for discussion at the government session on Thursday [17 June].
At President Putin's meeting with key cabinet ministers today, Finance Minister Aleksey Kudrin presented the
main parameters of the draft budget.
[Kudrin] In 2005 we are planning to receive total revenues of R3,103bn and to have expenditures of R2,916bn. One of
the main tasks addressed in the 2005 budget is the reduction of the single social tax. Certainly, in order for welfare
funds to receive the necessary resources, the budget will allocate additional money for the Pension Fund, the Social
Insurance and the Compulsory Medical Insurance funds.
[Presenter] Thus, in 2005 the state is planning to increase its revenues by approximately R360bn, that is by 13 per
cent against this year. Budget expenditures will increase by a smaller amount of about R250bn.
