proposals to settle the company's debts.
A Yukos spokesman told the Petroleum Information Agency [Interfax-ANI] that in the letter "the company's
management is asking the government to restructure the company's debts for which purpose the company's assets
must be freed". "If the company's assets are freed, Yukos will be able to settle up to 70 per cent of its
debts until the end of the year," he said.
Besides, the company's management asked Menatep shareholders to help in resolving the problem with tax
payments.
"The company has asked major shareholders to get involved in the dispute," the Yukos spokesman said.
"Menatep group could act as a guarantor of partial debt repayment".
"The company is also asking the shareholders to support the decision to issue extra shares to pay the
debts," he said.
Yukos press secretary Aleksandr Shadrin has confirmed that the company's management sent a letter to the prime
