Russia to increase foreign debt repayment by 2.2bn dollars in 2005
Moscow, 14 June: Russia plans to pay 11.2bn dollars as its foreign debt repayment in 2005. This amount is stipulated in the draft federal budget for 2005, journalists have been told at the Finance Ministry. Foreign debt repayment next year will exceed this year's amount by 2.2bn dollars. This has been made possible by the fact that repayment of the Vneshekonombank [foreign economic bank] credit using [Central] Bank of Russia funds has been increased from 700m dollars to 1.7bn dollars, as well as by the fact that significant repayment has been made on foreign bonded loans that will amount to 4.9bn dollars in 2005, the Finance Ministry explained.
