14 June 2004 17:28 Russian companies hope to sell arms to NATO, spokesman says Paris, 14 June: Russia is ready to collaborate with NATO in the sphere of upgrading weapons in accordance with NATO
standards, Rosoboroneksport spokesman Nikolay Demidyuk has said in an interview with RIA-Novosti.
He is leading the Russian delegation at the Eurosatori-2004 international show of ground troops and air defence
equipment which opened in the northern Paris suburbs today. [Passage omitted]
Demidyuk said that contracts were not likely to be signed. "The show is just a marketing opportunity, but not
the signing of contracts," he said.
The Rosoboroneksport envoy believes that potential clients may be interested in air defence systems, including Topol
M-1 and Buk M-1 "which can home on any air targets, including missiles and stealth-type aircraft".
Participants may also be interested in close combat weapons, various kinds of ammunitions, antitank missiles, the
latest developments in armour, including the unique Shtora system for protecting tanks.
The Rosoboroneksport spokesman said that the joint Russian stall is exhibiting over 300 kinds of products which are
shown as simulations, models, mapboards and video footage. At least 20 Russian companies of the Russian defence industry
manufacture these products.
