10 June 2004 05:31 Central federal district collects most insurance premiums MOSCOW. June 10 (Interfax) - Russian insurance companies in the Central Federal District collected 88.8 billion
rubles in premiums, excluding mandatory medical insurance, in the first quarter of 2004, or 67.2% of total premiums
throughout the country.
Insurance pay outs in the Central Federal District were 27 billion rubles, or 72.6% of all payments throughout
Russia, the Finance Ministry reported.
Insurance companies in all seven federal districts collected a total of 132.2 billion rubles in premiums, excluding
mandatory medical insurance, and paid out 37.2 billion rubles in compensation.
The Finance Ministry's insurers register contained 1,416 insurance companies as of April 1, 2004. [RU ASIA
