Serbia and Montenegro want economic cooperation with Russia
MOSCOW. June 10 (Interfax) - Belgrade hopes that Serbian-Russian economic cooperation will grow swiftly, said Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Draskovic. "We have to act quickly to prepare a number of signed agreements on economic cooperation between the two countries by fall, when a meeting of representatives of the two countries' leadership is scheduled," Draskovic told a press conference on Thursday. "We are interested in Russia taking part in the construction of oil and gas pipelines and privatizing banks, tourist facilities, and an aluminum smelter in Podgorica," he said. Talking about the Kosovo issue, Draskovic said that he discussed it with the Russian authorities during his current two-day visit. "I state that Russia's position and the position of Serbia and Montenegro on this issue are the same," Draskovic said. He once again spoke for the international community to "oblige itself to finance measures to liquidate all the consequences of ethnic cleanings of the Serbs and the total damage caused to the region over five years, starting from June 10, 1999."
