Fresh blow to Yukos NEWS DIGEST
ByLine: By ANDREW JACK A Moscow commercial court yesterday bowed to pressure by the Russian
authorities to dismiss a judge due to rule on an appeal brought by the
embattled oil group Yukos.
The move dealt a fresh blow to the company in its battle to avoid a Dollars
3.4bn tax claim. The Moscow arbitration court agreed to a request by the tax
ministry to remove Judge Natalia Cheburashkina, after accusing her of bias.
However, in a more positive move for Menatep, the group of Russian
shareholders that holds a controlling stake in Yukos, the Swiss courts
yesterday lifted a freezing order on Dollars 1.6bn of its assets imposed this
spring. Andrew Jack, Moscow
