Monitronics International Provides Security at Recent G8 Summit
DALLAS, June 11 /PRNewswire/ -- At the request of the United States Secret Service and the Department of Homeland Security, Monitronics International, Inc., headquartered in Dallas, recently participated in providing security services for the G8 Summit, which took place on June 8-10 at Sea Island, Georgia. Monitronics provided security systems and 24-hour monitoring of key sites that were vital to the protection of participants of the event. The G8 Summit, or Group of Eight, brought together world leaders from eight member nations-- Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, the United Kingdom, and the United States. "Monitronics is proud to have had the opportunity to provide security services for such a prestigious and historical event," said President and CEO Jim Hull. "We certainly value our continued relationships with leading governmental agencies such as the Department of Homeland Security and it was an honor to be chosen as the monitoring company best capable of handling the high-level security needs of the G8." Monitronics designed, installed, and monitored intrusion detection systems for various facilities at the G8 Summit, including those dedicated to the International Media Center and the Multi-Agency Command Center. The U.S. Secret Service, under the leadership of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and in cooperation with its local, state, and federal security and public safety partners, developed the overall security strategy for the event. Due to the nature of the Summit, the DHS designated it a National Special Security Event, requiring the Secret Service to assume its role as the lead agency for the design and implementation of the operational security plan. Monitronics currently provides 24-hour monitoring and customer support to more than 460,000 customers. Monitronics is the fourth largest security company in the country.
