Alcatel and NCC sign new GSM expansion contract
Mobile communications provider Alcatel has signed a new deal with CJSC Nizhegorodskaya Cellular Communication (NCC) to extend the Russian mobile phone company's GSM network. The project, with the aim of providing a better GSM service for NCC's 500,000 subscribers, will be completed in August 2004. The new contract marks the tenth anniversary of the first GSM deployment in Russia which was engineered by Alcatel and NCC. Alcatel currently has equipment being installed in 30 Russian cities.
