09 June 2004 09:31 Trial of Reznik case to resume on Thursday MOSCOW. June 9 (Interfax) - Moscow's Chereyomushkinsky Court has postponed until Thursday the hearing of a libel
suit filed by the Matrosskaya Tishina prison, where former Yukos CEO Mikhail Khodorkovsky is being held, and two of its
employees against Moscow Bar Association President Genri Reznik.
The case took its start from an incident on November 11, 2003, when
defense lawyer Olga Artyukhova was searched as she was leaving the
prison after meeting with her client, Mikhail Khodorkovsky. Law
The court is expected to begin studying the case materials during the upcoming hearing.
enforcement officers found a note in Artyukhova's folder, which was seen as Khodorkovsky's instructions on
how to obstruct the investigation.
Artyukhova said she had not received any notes from Khodorkovsky. "The documents confiscated from me were
related to the defense. Mikhail Khodorkovsky did not give me any notes. I did not record any instructions," she
said.
Reznik has accused two prison officials of performing a search on Artyukhova. "The search was done by men. They
were touching the body of a female lawyer," Reznik said.
The inspectors involved in the incident have asked the court to have Reznik refute his statement about them,
insisting that Artyukhova was not searched and her belongings were not examined. [RU EEU EUROPE ASIA E4MRG CRIM] av
