09 June 2004 03:13 Zhirinovsky against Gorbachev attending Reagan`s funeral MOSCOW. June 9 (Interfax) - Deputy Chairman of the Russian State Duma and leader of the Liberal Democratic Party
(LDPR) Vladimir Zhirinovsky has spoken against former Soviet president Mikhail Gorbachev attending the funeral of former
U.S. president Ronald Reagan.
"I recommend that his passport be seized at the border," Zhirinovsky said at a Duma meeting on
Wednesday.
"Listen, Napoleon burned Moscow to the ground. This could take us
to having a statue of Genghis Khan put up in the center of Moscow,"
The LDPR leader called for "sticking to the political course" and "realizing the historic role of that
president, who contributed as much as he could to the breakup of our country and inflicted huge damage on it."
Zhirinovsky also cited other examples that he viewed as not complying with his "political course," in
particular, the recent opening of an establishment called Napoleon in Moscow.
