10 June 2004 11:34 Russian MPs walk out of Duma in protest at housing bill Moscow, 10 June: Members of the Motherland [Rodina] faction and the faction of the Communist Party of the Russian
Federation of the State Duma today walked out of the State Duma session during the discussion of the draft Housing Code
of the Russian Federation.
A representative of Motherland, Oleg Shein, said that its members did not intend to take part in voting "for
this antisocial and corruptive document". According to him, "this code would only heat up the bribe
market".
The leader of the Communist Party faction, Gennadiy Zyuganov, announced that the Communists view this document as
"aimed against the people and antisocial".
