Terni, have signed a memorandum of intent here on supplies of natural gas products within the framework of the
Sakhalin-1 project to Khabarovsk Territory, the press service of Khabarovsk Territory government has told RIA.
This is the first document on sales of Sakhalin gas to Russian consumers, Terni said in a briefing. In the first
stage, the gas will come to Khabarovsk Territory, and after creating the necessary infrastructure - to other regions of
the Russian Far East.
Natural gas supplies will start next summer. By 2009 the annual volume of supplies will reach 3bn cubic meters, Terni
said.
In his turn, Ishayev said that the arrival of Sakhalin gas will strengthen the energy stability of Khabarovsk
Territory and the Far East, and reduce cost of electric and thermal energy to consumers.
As of today, 150 km of a gas pipeline from the Tatar Strait into the Khabarovsk Territory mainland has been
constructed. It will reach Khabarovsk in 2006. By then two Khabarovsk power plants will be ready to transfer to gaseous
fuel.
