State Duma to decrease spending
"I cannot name the exact sum yet, but it will be over 100 million rubles per year. This is the sum we will save," Duma speaker Boris MOSCOW. June 8 (Interfax) - The Russian State Duma will decrease its spending by over 100 million rubles per year in 2004. Gryzlov told journalists on Tuesday. He said that a number of suggestions directed at curbing the Duma's internal spending were considered at a session of the Duma leadership on Monday. Gryzlov said that "measures were found that would allow us to decrease spending on deputies' transport, and that we will be able to decrease the spending on Duma members' apartments and the spending on deputies' flights within Russian territory. Also, reserves were found that would help us reorganize the Duma's cafes." "We have found ways to considerably decrease spending," Gryzlov said. He also said the Duma's staff will be cut by 335 people in 2004. [RU EUROPE EEU EMRG POL] aa aw
