08 June 2004 06:52 Duma may pass Nationalization Bill in first reading in fall MOSCOW. June 8 (Interfax) - The State Duma may pass the bill on the Russian Federation taking over property owned by
individuals or legal entities (nationalization) in a first reading as early as in the fall, Property Committee Chairman
Viktor Pleskachevsky, member of the United Russia party's ruling body, said at a roundtable discussion in Moscow on
Tuesday.
Discussion of nationalization triggers political controversy, so the adoption of this Cabinet-moved bill will put an
end to sending in other bills on the same subject, he said.
Ivan Melnikov, deputy chairman of the Communist Party, said that the bill is not complete and should not be
passed.
The bill will be significantly revised to remedy its shortcomings, notably the absence of a procedure for
implementing the future law, participants in the roundtable discussion said. [RU EUROPE ASIA EMRG LAW MRG] ap aw
