Two more candidates to run in Chechen presidential election
Groznyy, 9 June: Two more candidates for Chechen presidency submitted their applications to the Chechen electoral commission today. One of the candidates is a doctor of medical sciences, Sultan Ayskhanov, who is a hospital doctor, and the other one is lawyer Adam Edilov. They are both residents of Groznyy, ITAR-TASS has learnt from the electoral commission. Four candidates had previously announced their intention to take part in the forthcoming presidential elections. One of them, Marat Zaynalabidov, was nominated by the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia. The other three nominated themselves. They are Mariyet Gorchkhanova, Vakhit Visayev and Malik Saydullayev. To date, six people have submitted their applications to the Chechen electoral commission. [Passage omitted: the elections are scheduled for 29 August]
