07 June 2004 07:35 Russia wants to prioritize Europe-Asia corridor MOSCOW. June 7 (Interfax) - Russia is interested in setting up the most favorable conditions for the development of
an international transport corridor between Europe and Asia, including attracting foreign investments for it, Transport
Minister Igor Levitin said.
"Russia is interested in putting into place a serious, regular and equal dialogue with the European Union
regarding the transport sector," Levitin said in a speech at the European Expansion and Transport Problems
international seminar in Spain, his press secretary, Svetlana Kryshtanovskaya, told Interfax.
Russia currently has three international transport corridors. "The way these three international transport
corridors operate has shown the high effectiveness of supporting foreign-economic and passenger relations with European
countries," Levitin said. The European vector of Russia's integration with the world economic system has
received reliable transport support, he added. A steady strengthening of trade and tourist relations between the
European Union and other continents, including Asia, has taken place over the last few years. A good example is trade
between the EU and China, Korea and India. [RU ASIA EUROPE EEU EMRG RRL EU TRD CN IN KR] rm me
