Russia sees inflation of 0.7% in May
MOSCOW. June 7 (Interfax) - Consumer price inflation in Russia was 0.7% in May, compared with 1% in April, the Federal State Statistics Service reported Monday. Inflation was 5.3% in January-May 2004, compared with 7.1% in the same period of 2003 (inflation was 0.8% in May 2003). The basic consumer prices index, which excludes short-term, irregular price changes influenced by administrative or seasonal factors, was 100.6% in May (103.8% in January-May). Prices for goods rose 0.6% in May, compared with 0.7% in April. Food prices went up 0.4% (0.8% in April). Food and drink prices minus fruit and vegetables went up 0.5% (1%).
