07 June 2004 06:56 262 workers at Yeniseiskaya mine sent dismissal notices ABAKAN. June 7 (Interfax-Siberia) - Two hundreds and sixty-two workers of the Yeniseiskaya coal mine in Khakasia,
where a 12-day hunger strike was held in late May to demand payments of salary arrears, received dismissal notifications
on Monday.
The notifications were given to the workers at a trade union meeting, a source at the mine told Interfax. If the
situation does not change, the workers will be subjected to a redundancy dismissal in two months.
The trade union meeting said they would protest a court ruling against former director of the Yeniseiskaya coal mine
Ten Yon Tark. The court sentenced him to an 80,000-ruble fine and denied him the right to hold managerial positions for
three years.
The coal miners think the sentence was too mild. Preparations are underway to protest the sentence and raise funds to
hire a lawyer. [RU EUROPE EEU EMRG COA JOB] te tl <>
